Title: Organization and function of single insulin granule exocytosis sites in living cells.

Abstract: The Barg lab investigates the cell biology of islet hormone secretion, focusing on the life cycle of hormone-containing secretory granules. Using advanced light microscopy, including TIRF, super-resolution and single-molecule imaging, combined with patch-clamp electrophysiology, the group studies how individual granules are released from pancreatic beta cells and other islet cells. The aim is to understand the molecular regulation of granule exocytosis and its physiological implications for hormone secretion in health and diabetes.
