“Axon initial segment proteome dynamics homeostatically tunes neuronal excitability”

Abstract: As the generator of nerve impulses, the axon initial segment is the guardian of neuronal excitability. Located in the beginning of the neuronal axon, the compartment is filled with a variety of ion channels specialized for the initiation and tuning of action potential generation. In this talk, I will present our most recent data on how the compartment plastically adapts its ion channel composition to stabilize the excitability of the cell.
