“Multiple sclerosis: Insights from genetics, epidemiology and clinical research”
Abstract:The etiology and pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) is still incompletely understood, but recent studies have provided novel insights into the role of genetic and epidemiological risk factors in susceptibility to develop MS. Furthermore, treatment options for patients with early MS have improved dramatically in the past two decades. Studies of response to treatment and the subsequent disease course do, however, indicate that chronic inflammation and degenerative processes may continue in many patients with MS.
