Title: Investigating Regulatory Pathways of Energy Balance: Implications for Obesity Treatment
Abstract: Body weight is homeostatically regulated by the central nervous system which monitors energy balance and initiates physiological and behavioral responses to effectively counteract weight perturbations. Our research aims at parsing these so-called homeostatic weight defense mechanisms. In this presentation, I will give an overview of our work on physiological protection against weight gain and I will share recent progress we have made in engineering drug candidates that target synaptic plasticity to chronically reverse obesity.
