Site visit by Research Review Panel

Early December, a review panel chaired by Dr. Mart Saarma from the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki visited the Department of Neuroscience as part of the current research assessment process.

During three days, the panel members met with management, research groups and teachers to discuss the quality of research and suggest new research initiatives at the Department of Neuroscience.

Based on their findings, the review panel will prepare an evaluation report covering seven different assessment categories: 1) quality and international impact of research, 2) interdisciplinary research, 3) research-based educational activities, 4) private and public collaborations, 5) impact and innovation, 6) governance and organization and 7) resources and capacity. This report will form basis for the continued development of the department together with the Faculty at SUND.

Head of Department Ulrik Gether expressed: “We experienced a highly professional review panel coming up with many positive words, good questions and recommendations during the program. We feel highly motivated to continue the good work at the department to become a leading neuroscience research center.”
