Massive Interest in New Master's in Neuroscience

166 students have applied for one of the 30 places in the new master's degree programme 'Master in Neuroscience'. The programme starts up in September and has been established to meet a growing need for research and development within neuroscience.

'The programme will strengthen neuroscience in Denmark in general and be a good recruitment platform. With the large number of applicants, we can also conclude that we have struck a great academic interest among the students. And we are extremely proud of this because in the future, they will have to drive the neuroscientific research and development', says Vice-Dean of Education Hans Henrik Saxild.

Of the 166 applicants, 42 are from Denmark, 90 from EU countries and 34 from non-EU countries. But only 30 qualified students are lucky enough to be offered a place at 'Master in Neuroscience', starting in September 2020. The programme is the first of its kind in Denmark. All the courses are newly developed by researchers from the Department of Neuroscience and the courses cannot be taken anywhere else in the country. The applicants come from studies in biology, biomedicine, psychology, biotechnology, nursing, physiotherapy, software development, political science and nanoscience.

Jens Mikkelsen, who is Head of Studies of the programme, is really pleased with the result: 'With this large field of applications we have the opportunity to choose the absolutely best students from all over the world and train the most talented candidates within the field of neuroscience. We are over the moon and look forward to getting started'.
